Job Role: Support Worker

Reports To: Senior Support Worker/Deputy Manager and Registered Manager

Location: Surrey

Salary: £12ph and £60 per sleep In

​

What is the purpose of the support worker role:

  • Abide by The Children’s Homes Regulations 2015.

  • To assist the management team in the day-to-day management of the home in all aspects appropriate to the Statement of Purpose for the home and Young Persons Guide.

  • To provide a safe, caring, nurturing and supportive environment for the children which considers and respects and affirm their racial, cultural and religious identity and lifestyle.

  • To support the wider team in working with the children and assist in returning them to their families or enable them to move on to alternative carers or independence at the appropriate stage in their lives.

  • To help the children and significant people in their lives in the design and implementation of their care plans considering their views and wishes.

  • To ensure that children are safeguarded and protected within the Children’s Home and wider community

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To maintain outstanding childcare standards.

  • To safeguard and promote the welfare of young people.

  • To provide a caring and supportive environment in which young people will feel safe.

  • To act as a positive role model.

  • To exercise appropriate support to the young people by being aware of their presenting needs.

  • The maintenance of outstanding written records and reports on the individual young person’s general presenting behaviours.

         In line with Risk Assessments and Strategies which can be used in casework conferences Court Proceedings and other professional meetings.

  • To undertake and promote domestic duties in the home and ensure high standards of cleanliness and presentation throughout the home and grounds.

  • To ensure that Statutory Regulations – Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and the Guide to the Regulations and all Policies and Procedures of the company are implemented and adhered to.

  • To demonstrate a high standard of practice of work with the young people throughout your employment.

  • To ensure the rights and needs of the young people are met as fully as possible whether emotional, psychological, spiritual, physical, intellectual, cultural or social.

  • To promote and maintain positive anti-discrimination practices.

  • To take responsibility and shift lead when allocated to.

  • To attend monthly staff meetings and individual supervision sessions.

  • To complete all housekeeping duties, including preparing meals throughout the shift and adhering to food hygiene to ensure the home is kept to a high standard.

  • To provide a comfortable homely environment for the young people, adhering to Health & Safety requirements.

  • To undertake other duties at a higher responsibility level matching relevant experience and ability as directed by the line manager.

  • To attend all training sessions booked via Head Office.

  • To undertake the Diploma Level 3 Residential Childcare, England if required in line with Regulations. This must be completed within 18 months of starting in this role.

  • Complete any other duties commensurate with the role.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Hours of work are an average of 40 hours per week.

  • Holiday entitlement: 5.6 weeks per annum.

  • 3 satisfactory references (One must be your most recent employer)

  • It is a requirement of the role to register onto the DBS update service. You cannot be on the child barring list to work in this role.
